We provide services for southwestern Utah including Cedar City, St. George, Kanab and surrounding cities, southern Nevada including the Las Vegas and Mesquite metro areas, and northern Arizona including Flagstaff and Page areas.

Dr. Karen Frieden has been doing flight medicine since August of 2020.  She trained in Internal Medicine at St. Louis University and has been an Internist since 1999.  She worked at IHC for 15 years as a hospitalist and certified in Age Management Medicine.  She enjoys traveling with her husband who is in the process of obtaining his pilot’s license.  Dr. Frieden has purchased Southwest Flight Medicine.  Dr. Jensen and Lois have retired but will remain as consultants.

Dr. Kevin Jensen graduated from the University of Nevada – Reno School of Medicine in 1984 and subsequently went on to a surgical internship in one of the Yale affiliated residencies in New Haven, Connecticut.  Following this, he entered the United States Air Force where he served as a Flight Surgeon in the Strategic Air Command with the 5th Bomb Wing, the 906th Air Refueling Squadron, the 5th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, the 37th Aeromedical Rescue and Recovery Squadron and the 91st and 92nd Missile Wings at Minot AFB, North Dakota.  During that time, he flew in B-52 Bombers, KC-135 Tankers, T-33, T-37 and T-38 Fighter Trainers, as well as F-15 Fighters, HH1H Helicopters and everything else that flew into the base.  He worked in Emergency Medicine for 35 years and has been a department director three times.   He received his private pilot’s license in 1995 and presently flies a Cessna 182.  He is currently VFR rated and has over 1500 hours as PIC.

Lois grew up in a flying family, with her father having owned two Cessna 182s and three Cessna 310s.  She flew all over the United States with her parents, endured Kevin’s flight training and presently flies with him as co-pilot and “auto”.  She loves flying to different destinations with Kevin and they have a long bucket list of places to go now that they are retired.
